Here is a simple quick easy peach sorbet recipe that you can make with almost any fruit! The other day I made a fun watermelon space creature for my granddaughters birthday party. I had left over watermelon so I decided to make a watermelon sorbet. Well….I tried and failed! Not to be deterred I decided to try again using frozen peaches from last years crop. It turned out yummy!

Sorbet is usually made with fruit and sugar and sometimes a little water. I made this one with honey and pure maple syrup and a little hot water. The water helps the mixture to combine together better. Sherbet is similar but almost always has a little milk or cream in it. I actually mixed my quick easy peach sorbet with vanilla ice cream and it is to die for delicious.

Ingredients to make quick easy Peach sorbet

3 1/2 cups frozen peaches (I left the skin on)

1 Tbsp honey

2 tsp Pure maple syrup

1 tsp fresh lemon juice

1/4 C hot water or more depending on thickness of mixture

You can play around with the honey and maple syrup to your liking. Some honey has a strong flavor and that comes through a bit. Also this will depend on your peaches and how sweet they are. They tend to loose some of their sweetness after being frozen. There is no right or wrong way to make this sorbet it is all about what flavor you like.

I have seen recipes that use almond flavoring and mint too.

If you love peaches then you will love my mini peach raspberry pies baked in ramekins and my peach crumble bars! I also have a peach blueberry crisp recipe that is so EASY to make! Another yummy peach recipe is my peach bbq sauce that I use over grilled chicken!

Watermelon sorbet fiasco

Making sorbet does not get any easier! You don’t need special equipment like an ice cream maker! You do need a food processor and preferable one that works.

So here is what happened when I tried to make the watermelon sorbet. I was so proud of myself for saving the leftover watermelon from the space creature I had carved. I cut up the watermelon into chunks and froze them. Then I put the frozen chunks into my Cuisinart food processor. I turned it on but it wasn’t working. One little part had broken off. It just needed a little plastic part to push down so it would turn on. Taking a plastic spatula I pushed it into the machine not realizing it was not locked in place.

The watermelon shot out ALL OVER THE KITCHEN AND ALL OVER ME! I could not believe I could be so dumb as to not make sure it was locked in place. I just stood there amazed and started laughing. Chalk it up to learning how to be safe with kitchen appliances.

I think I will stick to carving watermelon into a turtle or a pirate ship.

After I cleaned up the kitchen and mopped up the floor, I remembered we had lots of frozen peaches in the freezer. My sweet hubby cut up 100 peaches and put them in freezer bags last year. SCORE!

Luckily I had another Cuisinart part that worked so I was able to use it to make the peach sorbet “safely” this time.

Process with bursts of chopping. You will have to push down the mixture a few times to get it to combine and become smooth. In hindsight I think it would have been easier if my peaches were not in large frozen clumps. Tip- freeze your peaches on a cookie sheet separately.

Add in the hot water as needed. I think I ended up using a bit more peaches and my peaches were in clumps so I used more water.

Place in a freezer container and freeze or serve right away.

I actually served mine mixed with vanilla ice cream and it was SOOO GOOD!

Yes I would think most fruit would work great! Some fruits are sweeter so you might not need to add any sweetener. Let me know what you try! Thanks for stopping by.

I love that this doesn’t have any dairy in it; it’s surprisingly hard to find frozen treat recipes that don’t contain some sort of diary in them.
